Hey kids, I wanted to let y’all know that the next WalkenFest, WalkenFest 2008, will be held on Saturday, March 29th, 2008. This is to get as close to his birthday — March 31st — as possible. Right now I have two features chosen for WalkenFest 2008, “Puss in Boots” and “The Deer Hunter.” The third feature will be a comedy, but I haven’t decided which one. Maybe “Hairspray” or “Balls of Fury,” both of which should be out on DVD by then.
As for location, I’m thinking instead of my apartment, this time we can do Sebastian’s in Teluca Lake. The parking is better, and so is the food.
I’ll bring you more details as I have them, I just wanted y’all to clear your calendar for 3/29/2008! Thanks!

In an interview on Movies Online, John Travolta discusses what it was like dancing with Christopher Walken. Here’s the clip:
MoviesOnline: Can you talk a little about dancing with Christopher Walken – that’s such a wonderful scene.
JOHN TRAVOLTA: We’re both light on our feet, and we both have a sense of that history that I spoke of, so once he committed to being passionate about his wife, we were home. Once he said [Does great impression of Walken] “Oh, I got it. He’s crazy about her. They’re wild in the sack.” And I said, “Yes, you got it.” Then I could react flirtatiously, and I could react to that because it was energy coming at me. Where if he had played it distant or eccentric or something, instead he played it, he’s watching me dance and he’s smiling, and all that allowed me to be – and the idea that he prefers a size 60. [laughter]

In an interview with Filmstew.com, Walken admits that if he’s watching movies (the only other thing he likes to watch besides Charlie Rose, apparently), he’ll stop channel surfing if he comes to a movie in which he’s acting in. He says:
“I have 50 or 60 movie channels on satellite,” Walken explains during a recent interview with FilmStew. “I surf for movies, that’s mostly what I do. And I always stop if I see the one I’m in.”
“And sometimes I think, ‘Oh, I hope I’m not on right now,’” he adds. “So that I can just move on. If I catch myself, I’ll watch it. It’s a very interesting thing, it depends on what my mood is. Sometimes I see something that I did ten years ago that I thought I was awful in, and I wasn’t that bad.”

A few days ago, I hosted the first WalkenFest here at my apartment, and it went VERY well. I expected about 10-15 people and ended up with about 30 that showed up throughout the day. It went so well I’m planning another one in six months. I’ll have more details on that one when I whip it up. Thanks to everyone who showed up to the first WalkenFest.

Hey there, folks, how are you all? I’m writing because I’ve put together the schedule for WalkenFest, and wanted y’all to know what’s playing when. Please note that these times are rough, approximate and try to take things like bathroom breaks into account. These times are probably as accurate as I can make them give or take 15 minutes:
- 2:30 PM - Weapon of Choice music video – 4 minutes
- 2:35 PM - The Dead Zone – 1 Hour, 43 Minutes
- 4:45 PM - Various Walken clips from Saturday Night Live – 30 minutes. Some of these include:
- Ed Glosser: Trivial Psychic
- Blue Oyster Cult: Behind the Music (Cowbell)
- The Continental
- Colonel Angus
- 5:15 PM - Blast from The Past – 1 Hour, 52 Minutes
- 7:20 PM - Walken clips found on the Internet – 30 minutes. Some of these include:
- Walken reading the Three Little Pigs.
- Kevin Pollack’s Walken impersonation from The Aristocrats.
- Walken Interviews.
- 8:00 PM - Important Walken clips from Quentin Tarantino – 15 Minutes. These include:
- Pulp Fiction
- True Romance
- 8:20 PM - The Prophecy – 1 hour, 38 minutes
So to reiterate, the beginning of WalkenFest is at 2:00 PM, but we’ll have a half-an-hour to shmooze (and meet kitties) before the actual films begin. Let me know if you have any questions on the schedule. Thanks!
